Overview

HeyBagel is an AI-powered journaling and thought analysis app. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Account information

When you sign up/sign in, we receive basic account info from our authentication provider (Clerk), such as your email address and profile details you choose to provide (like name or profile image).

Your content

The journal entries and text you write in HeyBagel (including any prompts you submit for analysis).

Usage data

Basic information about how you use the app (for example: feature usage, timestamps, and interaction patterns).

Device and log data

Technical data like IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and app diagnostics/logs used to keep the service running and to troubleshoot issues.

Cookies and similar technologies

Used for sign-in/session functionality and to operate the site.

What we don’t collect (important)

Payment card details: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card number. Stripe may provide us limited billing details (like subscription status and renewal/cancellation info).

HIPAA/medical data: HeyBagel is not a medical service and is not designed for HIPAA-regulated data.

How we use your information

We use information to:

Provide and operate HeyBagel (sign-in, saving entries, generating analyses, subscriptions)
Improve features and performance
Prevent abuse, fraud, and security issues
Communicate with you about service and support

AI processing

HeyBagel uses AI to generate analyses based on your text. This requires sending relevant input text to AI service providers to produce results. We use this to provide the features you request inside the app.

Sharing and third parties

We share data only as needed to run the service:

Clerk (authentication) to let you sign in and manage your account
Stripe (payments) to manage subscriptions and billing
Vercel (hosting) to serve the app and APIs
Error/diagnostics providers (e.g., error monitoring) to detect and fix bugs

We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legitimate business needs (like maintaining subscriptions, preventing abuse, and handling legal obligations). You can request deletion (see below).

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

Access: request a copy of your data
Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated data
Correction: request correction of inaccurate account details (where applicable)

Children

HeyBagel is intended for 13+. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal data, contact support@hey-bagel.com.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please use a strong password on your email account and keep your devices secure.

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll update the “Last updated” date when we do.
